How to reply to social media comments with AI

Published

The comment asking for a price is worth more than a hundred likes, and it is the one that gets answered a day late. An AI inbox finds those and drafts the reply. Here is what that looks like in practice.

The short answer

Comments from your posts are collected into one inbox. Each is read, marked if it shows buying intent, and given a drafted reply in the language it was written in. You approve and send, or you let comment replies go out automatically.

What the inbox does

  • Collects comments from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, checked every hour.
  • Flags buyers. A comment asking about price, availability, sizing or delivery is marked as a lead and labelled with what the person wants. Praise and emoji are not.
  • Drafts the reply in the commenter's own language, from the brand description and FAQ you have written. It is told not to invent a price, a policy or a promise.
  • Alerts you when a lead comes in, so it is not found the next morning.

Approve each reply, or send automatically

By default nothing is posted without you: drafts wait, and you send, edit or ignore them. You can switch on automatic replies for comments, in which case the drafted reply is posted for you and states that it comes from an automated assistant and that a teammate will follow up. That disclosure is not optional. A reply that pretends to be a person is the kind of thing customers remember.

The parts that still need you

  • Instagram direct messages arrive in the same inbox once Instagram itself is connected, a separate step from linking your Facebook Page. It is that connection which lets the inbox show who wrote and send your answer. DM replies are always sent by you.
  • YouTube. The reply is drafted, and you copy it and post it on YouTube through a link that opens the exact comment.
  • Anything your FAQ does not cover. The assistant will not guess, so an unusual question gets a holding reply and waits for you.

What it costs

7 tokens for each hourly check that drafts at least one reply. An hour with no new comments costs nothing. Setup is the same account connections you already use for publishing; see the Instagram and Facebook integration pages, or the overview.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI reply to Instagram comments automatically?

Yes. SOSPosting can post its drafted reply to a comment automatically, and each automatic reply says it comes from an automated assistant. Automatic sending is off by default; without it, replies wait in the inbox for you to approve.

Does it work for Instagram DMs?

Instagram DMs appear in the same inbox once Instagram itself is connected, which is a separate step from linking your Facebook Page. That connection is what lets the inbox show who wrote and send a reply. DM replies are always sent by you, never automatically.

Which networks does the inbox cover?

Comments from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, plus Instagram direct messages. For YouTube the reply is drafted for you to copy, with a link that opens the comment on YouTube.

How does the AI know what to say?

It answers from the brand description and the FAQ you provide in settings, and it is instructed not to invent prices, policies or availability. If your FAQ does not cover a question, the draft says a teammate will follow up.
